I disagree. The Nook Miles Ticket initial outrage was somebody giving their creature crossing character buns and some person saying they were appropriating black culture. Some people just need to play with the victim and be professionally offended at everything since sufferers get focus.
Getting rid of the first Aunt Jemima picture was fairly clear because it's reasonable to locate it anachronistic and inappropriate, but I don't know how folks were offended function as upgraded artwork. It was a perfectly innocent picture of a black woman's face that I had read was inspired by an actual person involved with the business. It is almost like the image of a POC is prohibited in advertising unless the product is specially geared towards that civilization. Personally, I consider that a step backward.
Well that's the sticking point. Are you currently celebrating it? Are you currently enjoying a free pass to use facets of a civilization without needing to worry about the discrimination which follows for other races? Is this certain aspect of the civilization assumed to be shared and taught to other people, or is it generally earmarked for certain individuals who have in some way got the right?
Finally I think ethnic appropriation becomes maintained too frequently, but that does not mean there is not dialogue to be had concerning it. Nonothing that goes on in Animal Crossing should ever be considered cultural appropriation. But the others commenters do make some point, that some people are able to develop and experience racism, prejudice, etc contrary to their culture, to be known as trashy for it, just to turn around and see others taking parts of it because it is decorative or artsy or so on. That cheap New Horizons Items does not justify policing hair styles, but it provides context at the least.
